I’ll begin by saying that I’m half Italian.  I blame my Italian background for my inability to quit eating.  I like to believe the stereotype that for generations, all Italians knew how to do was cook, eat and make wine – and that is the true reason I have this constant instinct to cook, eat and drink.  Even if it’s not true, it makes me feel better and gives me some sense of purpose for what I do in the kitchen.  I love to cook food that I like, but I also love to cook food that others like to eat (and of course, compliment me on!).  I also love food  – it makes me happy when I’m sad and happier when I’m already happy.  And, just cooking it gives me some sense of productiveness that usually makes me feel accomplished in some manner.

I can pretty much eat just about anything – I’m not extremely picky.  But, I do like food to the best it can be, so cooking the food gives me all the control.  I’ll just go ahead and say that I hate green, yellow and red peppers as well as cooked tomato chunks.  Those things seem to be everywhere!  What might seem to be a good meal can basically be ruined, in my opinion, with these ingredients.  So, when I first started cooking, it was such a thrill to make all my favorite things without these horrible flavor hindrances!  So, if you’re looking for chunky tomato, peppery dishes, you’ve come to the wrong blog…

I’m a Food Network and Cooking Channel addict, imagine that.  In fact, my husband and I discovered years ago that the Food Network was just about the ONLY channel we both agreed on.  I do use recipes, but mainly as guides – i try to stick to them as much as possible at the first time I make something new.   Then, I usually make some variations to the recipe that either make it “my own.”

Cooking crimes I am guilty of:
1.  Using too much garlic –  I love it and don’t think there is such thing as too much garlic!
2.  Over “peppering” everyting – I love the taste of peper and heard someone, one day a long time ago that it was good for you, so i think the more, the merrier:)
3.  Making things too spicy –   I, like my father, love spicy food.  So, while i like things hot, my husband like things a bit more mild-medium.  So, I try and compromise on the level of spiciness…sometimes.
